Less or More, More of Less

"Do not travel far to other dusty lands, forsaking your own sitting place; if you cannot find the Truth where you are now, you will never find it" - Dogen
There is little question that the economic slowdown having an impact on almost everyone. Only the extremely poor and extremely rich are imune from the discomfort associated increasing expense and declining income. It throws our personal values up against the wall; shakes us until are true beliefs tumble from our pockets. It forces choices that bring forth the best and the worst within us.
As the economy slows, so I suspect should we. It is tempting to think that by increasing our pace, we can out run economic decline. Working harder and smarter may soften the pocketbook punches, but it doesn't outrun that over which we have no control...such as gas and food prices.
There is much to be said for adjusting one’s pace. Clearly, there are times to hurry. Surely, there are times to slow. Those rare moments when nothing at all happens; when “time stands still;” when a sudden peaceful silence falls, are to be welcomed. Everything we do need not contain value, be important, or productive. There is room in each of our lives for a little more nothing.
Take Fun Seriously
