Things People Say

Often I hear people say things I don't understand. When I hear them, I look around and nobody else seems to be confused. So, I don't say anything. Perhaps I am the only one who doesn't understand what people mean when they say:
- "I don't have all day." - How can anybody not have all day? We all have all day.
- "It's the least I can do." - Why would anybody want to admit theyare doing the least they can do?
- I saw a woman wearing a T shirt with "Guess" on it. I said, "Thyroid problem?" She seemed offended.
- "Winners never quit and quitters never win." - Now what do I do about, "Quit while you're ahead?"
- There are disgruntled employees." - What is a "gruntled" employee?
- A "bus station" is where a bus stops. A "train station" is where a train stops. Why do we place people at "workstations?"
- Why do people say, "It goes without saying," before they say something?
- When someone says, "I'm not a complete idiot," does that mean they have parts missing?
- "You are unique, just like everyone else?"
Confused, I am

Why do people say 'go ahead and...' before they say they're going to do something?
Like- 'I'll go ahead and do that for you' instead of ' I'll do that for you'
or - 'you can go ahead and do that' instead of 'you can do that'...
It's just really irritating. If you think about it, you'd have to do 2 things- first 'go ahead', and then do whatever you were going to do. If you didn't say 'go ahead and...' you'd have one less thing to do.
